Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 220 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir. Westminster at Lake Ridge is seeking strong, licensed, experienced, creative and dedicated Director of Nursing.

This position is primarily responsible directing the overall operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with current state and federal regulations. Additional duties include overseeing scheduling of staff, budget proposal, and supervisory roles.

Key Responsibilities:

Assures the Nursing Department complies with all state, federal and OSHA health regulations/standards on a daily basis by maintaining current knowledge of local, state and federal laws. Coordinates activities of the nursing units with other resident care services such as physicians, physical and respiratory therapy, dietary, etc.Demonstrates flexibility, open mindedness, and versatility in adjusting to changing environments and requirements as necessary.

Conducts daily rounds of all nursing units to ensure the nursing staff is providing the highest level of care to residents.

Determines the staffing requirements necessary to meet the total nursing needs within the Westminster community. Forecasts resident admission and needs numbers to properly estimate staffing needs to the future. Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior exhibited by employees and takes appropriate action; utilizes progressive discipline policy when appropriate and maintains documentation as required. Conducts annual performance evaluations of all nursing staff in conjunction with the Health Services Administrator; sends copy of evaluation to Human Resources.

Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff.

Complies with Westminster at Lake Ridge's established safety rules and practices.

 

Qualifications

7 to 10 years nursing experience; RN license required; MSN preferred.

Incumbent should be able to analyze information received and lead staff to achieve positive outcomes for residents, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and be knowledgeable of nursing principles and state and federal health regulations. Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications.

Maintains professional presence when representing Westminster of Lake Ridge; exhibits degree of professionalism consistent with standards in performance, behavior, and appearance.
