Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 250 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir.

Westminster is currently searching for a dedicated and efficient Director of Plant Operations to join our senior leadership team.

The Director of Plant Ops should have at least 5 years of HVAC / electrical / plumbing experience or trade school training and at least 3 years of management experience in a retirement community or healthcare or a similar setting.  The ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Engineering or Business however an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

We are looking for a strong Director of Plant Operations with the following traits:

  • Familiarity with Assisted Living, Rehab and Long Term Care facilities
  • Excellent supervisory skills
  • Prior success in developing and building effective teams 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in plant operations - maintenance, security, housekeeping, laundry, and grounds maintenance
  • Familiar with corrective and preventative maintenance programs, energy management systems, and related emergency and safety systems
  • Knowledgeable of all state and federal safety regulations and requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

The Director of Plant Ops is responsible for the oversight of the daily operations within our community.  The Director of Plant Ops ensures that all related building systems and equipment are working at top performance levels.  Some of these duties include: 

  • Assisting in any ongoing capital projects
  • Providing direct supervision and leadership to the plant operations team
  • Creating departmental programs, cost estimates, specifications, surveys, reports, and budget reviews
  • Reviewing design plans and preparing the specifications for projects
  • Developing and maintaining operating procedures and records for operations and performance of building systems
  • Developing annual budgets; reviews monthly financial reports such as P&L statements and capital expense reports
  • Soliciting bids on needed parts and tools; creating a positive relationship with vendors
  • Ensuring ongoing training for all team members and required training is met in a timely manner
  • Overseeing monthly schedules for all team members; reviews and approves timesheets for payroll processing.
