Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 250 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir.

We are currently seeking a diligent medication aide to join our Assisted Living Unit part time during the second shift and every other Monday and Tuesday and every other weekend.  We rely on our medication aides to provide quality care to our residents.

Duties include:

  1. Provides medication based on the resident's care plan to include transdermal patches, nebulization with inhalation medications, and pills.
  2. Reviews assigned resident charts to ensure the proper medication is administered at the proper time.
  3. Checks and tidies medication cart daily and reports any supply issues to the Charge Nurse. 
  4. Provides assistance to residents within the Assisted Living units in daily hygiene rituals, making sure they are clean, dry and appropriately dressed.
  5. Assists residents during meals, ensuring they are receiving the prescribed diet.
  6. Reports any abnormalities in hygiene or diet intake to charge nurse.
  7. Encourages residents to remain as independent as possible in a safe environment.
  8. Engages residents in restorative exercises to maintain the highest level of functionality.
  9. Assists residents in relearning or adapting to new methods as part of their restorative program
  10. Performs general medical care functions and assesses resident's vital signs.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or GED
  2. At least one (1) year nursing experience in a clinical setting
  3. An active/current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate in Virginia
  4. An active/current Certified Medication Aide certificate in Virginia
  5. Must have advanced knowledge in field of practice
  6. Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines
